VNUS

As one of the most experienced doctors in the country performing the VNUS Closure procedure, Dr. Zadeh tells his patients this radiofrequency ablation is remarkably effective. In fact studies show a 90% success rate!

The VNUS procedure offers patients an efficient, non-surgical alternative for treating varicose veins to improve the skin’s appearance and to reduce health risks related to large varicose veins. The VNUS procedure utilizes radiofrequency (RF) energy to heat and contract the collagen found inside the vein walls, causing the vein to collapse and seal shut.

It’s a relatively new solution to leg pain, venous reflux disease and varicose veins. The minimally invasive procedure seals shut a damaged vein and, once the vein is closed, blood is re-routed to other healthy veins.

It has become a useful alternative method for the treatment of varicose veins. Closure of the greater saphenous vein (GSV) is a minimally invasive alternative to vein stripping. Instead of stripping the vein, the Closure device seals the vein shut.

Specialists normally use this closure procedure to close suitable great saphenous veins. However, it has now been extended to treat several other veins such as anatomically suitable short (lesser) saphenous veins, anterior accessory saphenous veins, and some perforator veins.

Often the GSV is the source of many of the varicosities in the affected leg. Since it usually cannot be seen with the naked eye, the role it plays in varicose vein formation can be shown with ultrasound examinations.
